This form is used by a veteran who wishes to determine their eligibility for a home loan guaranteed by the Department. This form collects personal and identifying information such as the veteran’s name, date of birth, and social security number.
The VA Form 26-1880 is known as a Request for a Certificate of Eligibility (COE). The COE confirms for your lender that you qualify for the VA home loan benefit. This form is used by the United States Department of Veterans Affair. The form will be used by a veteran who needs to determine their eligibility for a VA guaranteed home loan, which is a type of VA benefit.
This form will require information from the applicant to identify them. This includes full name, address, VA claim number, date of birth, and social security number. The veteran will also need to detail their military service. This is what the Department of Veterans Affairs will use in order to determine the eligibility of the applicant. The applicant may need to include other documentation that demonstrates proof of their military service as well.
The Certificate of Eligibility is known as the starting point of the VA loan process and proves to a lender that a buyer has met the VA’s service requirement. Every veteran has to meet one of the following service requirements before they can obtain a VA loan:
To know that you are eligible for a VA loan you must be, veterans, active duty service members, National Guard members, and reservists must meet the basic service requirements set by the Department of Veterans Affairs. The spouse of a military member who died while on active duty or as the result of a service-connected disability may also be eligible.
